DUTCH INTERIOR ECIG (UK VERSION)
Southern California six-piece Dutch Interior have dropped their new track, ‘Ecig (UK Version)’. It’s a moody, dark track that acts as the other side of the coin to the similarly-named fan-favourite they first released over a year ago. Where the original was fuzzy and supported by jazz-laced drums that give way to heavy, rhythmically shifting grit, this new version remains slow and introspective for nearly five minutes, and only bursts into life for a grating, doomy, Slint-style outro. It may technically be a reworking of an old track, but this feels like an entirely new, and even more impactful, piece. On the video that accompanies the track, they say: “flairs of nostalgia still peak through the death of our innocence. grab them and let yourself sit in a life that may actually have been better. we are only human, eh.” The band start their UK/EU tour at the end of August. -Dan Peeke
